Anyone who wants to support the Foundation's activities in medicine and dentistry in Ethiopia is welcomed to contribute with financial support but also with practical work.
Money that accrues after this call shall be transferred to the newly formed foundation Ethiopian Medical Bridge Collection Foundation. As the website www.bahirdar.se shows, extensive work is undertaken on voluntary basis by a team of Samuel Assafa, Hans Forsslund, Björn Franzén and Lasse Ahlner. In addition, a lot of other people in the Gotland medical and dental care branches. The municipality has donated used equipment in two rounds. The first round of equipment has been sent by us in a filled container to Ethiopia and a new one is almost ready for shipment.
The Foundation's purpose will be to create a network of people and businesses that are prepared to support, primarily the development of medical and dental care in Ethiopia, through practical actions and different types of grants. The network will consist of individuals with expertise in various fields of medicine and dentistry, as well as people with medical technical expertise.
To begin with, the Foundation's efforts directed towards the construction and operation of a mini-surgery clinic in Bahir Dar in northern Ethiopia. The clinic will be based on a network model where the local medical and dental personnel are working with ditto, particularly from Sweden who work longer and shorter period of mainly voluntary premises. The goal is to develop skills locally and that the clinic will provide a model for similar clinics in smaller towns in Ethiopia.
One shall ensure that aid reaches directly, without parts of the efforts are lost on the way through unnecessary bureaucracy. This can be done either through direct contributions handled by the Foundation for the clinical work, but especially through active participation in the management of the clinic(s). It can also be done through cooperation and contribution by and to established relief organizations and aid workers.
In addition, the Foundation shall work to disseminate information and raise awareness about how preventive medicine is working and is shown working in other parts of the world.
The Foundation also has the right to operate business as part of generating revenue to the Foundation's activities and purpose.
